The CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care is the latest nationally accredited qualification for individuals who want to support children's wellbeing and development in the context of an approved learning framework. How Is The Course Delivered?

Training is delivered via online classes and vocational placement.  Support face to face training may also be available to individual student on request.


Course Duration: This course is designed to be completed in up to 48 - 60 weeks (excluding holidays). 


Expected Study Hours: Typical learners are expected to spend up to 1245 hours depending on existing knowledge, skills and experience. 


Structure: All learners will be assessed through: 


  • Observation during role play/simulation 
  • Questioning may include self-assessment, verbal answers, written questionnaires, activity modules or interview 
  • Third party 
  • Structured activities may include projects, case studies, presentations, role play, demonstration, progressive tasks 
  • Credit transfer 

What Will You Learn?

This course is designed to develop your expertise in early childhood education. Among other topics, you will learn to:

  • Support children's health, safety and wellbeing 
  • Develop positive and respectful relationships with children 
  • Support the holistic learning and development of children 
  • Use an approved learning framework to guide practice 
  • Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices 

Required Vocational Placement

Learners are required to undertake a minimum of 160 hours of vocational placement within a regulated children’s education and care service in Australia. This must occur after the student has satisfactorily completed all the other subjects in this qualification. Learners have several options:

 

  • The learner may look for a vocational placement provider themselves. (Compassion Education to check workplace suitability.)
  • The learner may request Compassion Education to assist in finding a suitable vocational placement provider.

 

Compassion Education will provide learners Skills Workbooks that will facilitate the required workplace assessments and allow the learner to complete the required vocational placement hours.

 

Learners are recommended to decide on their vocational placement providers as soon as enrolment is confirmed to ensure that enough slots are available with each provider and to allow sufficient time for Compassion Education and the workplace partners to make the necessary preparations.


What Are The Entry Requirements?

Students must: 


  • Be 18 years or older 
  • Have sound language and literacy skills* (at least Year 10 English, or equivalent) 
  • Have basic computer skills* 
  • Have a current and valid Blue Card, Working with Children Check (WWCC), or Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration recognised in the state/territory of your vocational placement provider, or be eligible to obtain this requirement** 


*Learners who fail the LL&N and computer skill assessment may still be enrolled to a course if endorsed by the trainer/ assessor, and corresponding additional support strategies are in place. 



**Learners who do not have their Blue Card, WWCC, or WWVP prior to enrolment must apply for and obtain this requirement prior to vocational placement as required by this course. For more information about applying for this registration, learners may refer to the relevant authority as detailed below.

*Learners may choose to request assistance from Compassion Education to find a suitable vocational placement provider, or they may find their own vocational placement provider and Compassion Education will confirm suitability. 

What Resources Will You Need To Supply? 

To complete your course, you will need ongoing access to the following:

  • Computer with internet, email access and a working web browser 
  • Installed software: MS Word, Adobe Acrobat Reader 
  • Personal protective equipment: (available from your placement service)

Disposable gloves 

Face mask 

Safety goggles 

Apron 

Hair net/cap 

  • Video recording equipment, e.g. smartphone or a camera with video recording capabilities 
  • At least four (4) volunteers to participate in various role play activities 
  • A safe and suitable environment for conducting role plays 

What Are The CHC30121 Course Units?

This course covers 17 units of competency (15 core units and 2 elective units).

  • CHCECE031 – Support children’s health, safety and wellbeing 
  • CHCECE032 – Nurture babies and toddlers 
  • CHCECE033 – Develop positive and respectful relationships with children 
  • CHCECE034 – Use an approved learning framework to guide practice 
  • CHCECE035 – Support the holistic learning and development of children 
  • CHCECE036 – Provide experiences to support children’s play and learning 
  • CHCECE037 – Support children to connect with the natural environment 
  • CHCECE038 – Observe children to inform practice 
  • CHCECE054 – Encourage understanding of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples’ cultures 
  • CHCECE055 – Meet legal and ethical obligations in children’s education and care 
  • CHCECE056 – Work effectively in children’s education and care 
  • CHCPRT001 – Identify and respond to children and young people at risk 
  • HLTAID012* – Provide First Aid in an education and care setting 
  • HLTWHS001 – Participate in workplace health and safety 


Elective units: 

 

  • BSBSUS411 – Implement and monitor environmentally sustainable work practices 
  • CHCDIV001 – Work with diverse people 


*HLTAID012 Provide first aid in an education and care setting is not being offered by Compassion Education but is required in order to complete CHC30121 Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care. Learners must obtain this unit of competency from a different RTO and then apply for credit transfer. 

What Are The Course Fees?

The CHC30121 course is available for only $2,550.00.

($1,500.00 initial deposit + remaining balance of $1,050.00 to be paid in 11 monthly instalments of $95.45)
